Are You Annoyed by Your Smartphone?
We love the technology of our smartphone, don’t we? After all, that is why we bought it, or that’s why we were willing to chain ourselves to a two-year contract, right? We just had to have this phone! Whether it’s for the camera, the antenna, the operating system, the software or any other reason, we can’t think of any other smartphone we would want. We love it.
But we also hate it, right? Now matter which smartphone you have and that you are in love with, it seems we all can come up with a gripe or two about the phone. Like our life partners or spouses, our smartphones may not be perfect, but we believe they are perfect for us.
But we just can’t help but point out the faults. What are your greatest annoyuances with your smartphone? Are they pretty small and can be overcome, or are they much more significant that make you question whether you will get the next great model in the future?
Here we offer a few of our favorite smartphone annoyances, and we’d like your feedback. Do you have something that we miss here? Which of these is your greatest annoyance with your smartphone?
Antenna. Dropped calls on smartphones are all the rage. We have regular cell phones that often do better with phone calls than smartphones. Do you find calls being dropped regularly, or do you find that your phone only rings in a certain part of your house?
Sound. Many smartphones, despite he advancements, still use mono speakers – where are the stereo speakers?
Camera. Smartphone cameras are getting bigger in terms of megapixels all the time, in some cases getting bigger than regular digital cameras. But we are not always seeing the best-quality photos from those cameras. What is the point of having an 8 MP lens when a 4 MP digital camera takes better quality shots?
Software. Some operating systems are good, some not so much, but all of them have flaws. Is your OS intuitive to you? Do you get regular updates to your software, and yet you still have issues?
Battery. We have so many things we could do with our smartphones – watch movies, play video games, text, chat, do Internet research – yet we don’t have the battery life such that we can use it all day long and not have to worry about charging. If there was a battery that could last 18 to 20 hours a day with constant use, we’d be happy campers and that particular smartphone will likely break all kinds of sales records.
Settling. With smartphones, there is so much competition because there is no perfect choice. Every smartphone has an annoyance or flaw or two, and it’s up to each user to weigh how they will use the phone to determine what flaws they can overcome and which ones they can’t. None of these annoyances fit any one phone, and no phone is exempt from any of these annoyances, right?
