- Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus: Possible Pricing Details surfaces
Samsung’s move to release the much expected Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus later this year has been met with varying reactions from fans and tech enthusiasts who can’t wait to see what Samsung is planning on serving the tech market as several leaks has in the past whetted appetites ahead of the Samsung’s flagship device release.
Rumors about the smartphones, however, keep flooding in with the latest being the battery size which was earlier projected to be pulling more than expected. The latest rumors regarding the device’s battery, however, hold that Samsung might still be a little shy considering what happened with the failed Galaxy Note 7 and as such may be planning on pegging the battery capacity for the Galaxy S8 at 3,000 mAh while that of the Galaxy S8 Plus may be pegged at 3,500 mAh.
Other rumors regarding the battery indicate that the South Korean company which was rumored to have pushed back the release date on the much-awaited devices has contacted the likes of Sony and LG to handle its battery production. The latest development, however, comes contrary to earlier claims by the manufacturer that it will be contracting the battery production to Samsung SDI.
It is, however, understandable the reason behind the decision, more so, the decision to choose two of the biggest tech companies to handle its production as a repeat of the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco will altogether sink the company.
Other rumors which recently surfaced regarding the Galaxy S8, however, hold that the device will cost a lot more than its predecessor, the Galaxy S7, and Galaxy S7 Edge. There have been concerns among tech lovers as regards the possible pricing of the device which is anticipated to be released to the market in the second quarter of the year.
Reports indicate that Samsung may be pushing to equal or blow Apple out of the market with the pricing of the next flagship device.
In line with the unconfirmed pricing information which leaked online, the model numbers of the device have also surfaced with the Galaxy S8 coming with the model number SM-G950 and S8 Plus with the model number SM-G955. Possible color information has also been leaked with recent rumors holding that the device will be made available in three color variants including the Black, Gold and Orchid Gray variants.
Possible pricing has also been revealed to be in the neighborhood of $950 for the Galaxy S8 and a little more for the Galaxy S8 Plus which is projected to be available at $1,050. The projected pricing, however, brings the expected device to cost over $100 more compared to the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge
Samsung will, however, be making a major announcement at the Mobile World Congress 2017, a move which has been rumored to be a calculated attempt at stealing the attention of fans away from the possible unveiling of other smartphones especially from Nokia, Huawei, LG and other big tech companies.
