Keep it Safe, Keep a Spare
Technology is a huge part of our world today. We don’t actually use technology as much as we live and work in it. In most cases, it is as essential to making it through the day as clothes or food. Hey, we can skip a meal, but miss an email? No chance! As our reliance on our technology – especially our mobile devices – becomes more prevalent, so does the inconvenience we have to deal with when part of our technology breaks down.
Device Safety
Part one to avoiding this horrifying dilemma is simple: Do everything in your power to protect your devices. Get a quality cellphone case that provides a high level of impact-resistance, and screen protectors that not only protect from impact, but that is scratch-resistant as well. Same goes for your tablets, as there are a lot of great tablet cases available at affordable prices out there. The flip side of mobile device and general technology protection is to always be conscious where your mobile device is in relationship to potential hazards. Placing your phone on the desk next to your cup of coffee? Bad idea. Setting it on the kitchen counter when you’re cooking? Again, that’s trouble just waiting to happen. Play it smart and keep your devices safe, and they’ll deliver a long life of extreme techno-gratification.
You’ve Got Your Own Back
Part two of the technology emergency action plan is to always have a back-up plan! While it may not be feasible to have a backup iPhone around, it is relatively easy to find an affordable back-up phone that provides email and texting capabilities, which would be enough to get you by until you can get your iPhone or Droid repaired or replaced. Likewise, having spare technology accessories like USB cables, batteries, chargers, ear buds and other inexpensive items is a great way to turn “Oh man, this isn’t working!” into “Wait, I have another one of those, no problem!”
