LG G6
The LG G6 has been a source of significant debate in the tech world ahead of its official unveiling and launched into the market. Although speculations hold that the smartphone company may be looking at unveiling the smartphone in February at the Mobile World Congress, MWC, 2017 which is expected to hold in Barcelona, other analyst have suggested that the phone may not be released just yet but will see its way into the market before the end of the first quarter in the year.
Ahead of the smartphone’s release, the company has kept a tight lid on what to expect in the latest flagship device, but according to leaks, there have been a few or more than a few featured opened up in the books for the much-expected device.
LG has been rumored to be dumping the modular design it employed in the LG G5 and going for a simple yet stylish design on the G6 while putting aesthetics and usability in the forefront of its design. This also comes as Google put an end to the Project ARA which further spells doom for the future of modular smartphones.
The latest leak as regards the smartphone suggest that the G G6 may hit the market latest March 10 after the expected launch at the MWC 2017. Source further claim that the smartphone will hit the market way before the Samsung Galaxy S8 which has been rumored to be hitting the market in April.
However, some other source project that LG may be looking to repeat its last year feat by announcing the smartphone a day before the MWC event starts properly on February 26.
LG however issued press invitations confirming the possible release of the smartphone at the MWC. The message suggest that the smartphone company has slated February 26 in Barcelona, Spain, at 12:00-noon local time for the official launch of the smartphone which is a day before the event proper kicks off. The campaign slogan for the smartphone, however, holds s promises as LG taunted the “See More, Play More,” slogan. The slogan according to tech analysts suggests that the smartphone company may be looking at unveiling brand new edge-to-edge display technology which is expected to be one of the main attraction of the smartphone.
However, recent leaks revealed that the smartphone may be looking to bin the much expected OLED display expected of the smartphone although it has been said that the smartphone company may be looking at launching the device on the same day as the Samsung S8 although h Samsung has been mentioned to have pushed back its release date for the smartphone and hence has chosen sometime in April to launch the smartphone at an event in New York.
In an information contained in the Wall Street Journal, the LG G6 is said to have reported the LG executive, Skott Ahn, the LG’s Chief Technology Officer to have said the LG G6 would arrive “in the very near future.”
LG, however, told Korea Herald, “We will significantly improve the safety and quality of our new flagship smartphones as more consumers seek safe smartphones.”
The LG G6 is however expected to sport the Snapdragon 835 chipset which is an octa-core chipset. This comes against the earlier speculation that the above will sport the Snapdragon 820’s quad-core setup with the new Adreno 540 GPU on top. Other expected improvements include support for next-gen UFS 2.1 flash memory and a removable Li-ion battery.
