Samsung Foldable
Following the major setback incurred by Samsung on its Galaxy Note 7, the smartphone producer has been in the works of gaining the trust of its customers as well as improving its already dropped reputation in the smartphone market. With this in mind, the smartphone company has taunted a whole new array of smartphones including the Samsung Galaxy S8 which has created a whole new level of buzz among smartphone enthusiasts.
However, Samsung’s redefining point comes when news of its concept smartphone which it has teased for years hit the media. Recall that Samsung had displayed a concept smartphone which promises to be foldable, the smartphone got the attention of tech lovers with the idea which cropped up at a point when tech enthusiasts thought smartphone technology had reached its peak. The concept has however been said to have gone beyond the conceptual phase as Samsung is planning on releasing the smartphone before the end of 2017.
Knocking the Xiaomi Mi Mix -which was released in 2016 and boasted of impressive design and specs including the redefinition and thinning of bezel to give for a sleek design- out of the park, the Samsung concept smartphone which originally was reported to be a 7-inch tablet with foldable feature which allows it to be folded in phase into a smartphone and unfolded into its original size at will has in newly released renders been countered.
According to new renders of the smartphone which surfaced online, the smartphone will not be a tablet but a sleek device with foldable options, it has however created a major uproar among design specialist who seeks to question the foldability in light of the non-foldable parts that will be put into the device.
The smartphone which was first reported in June 2016 was said to be in the works and projected to be released at the MWC event which will hold in February, however, the device which according to rumours is still in the research stage has been said to be projected for released no earlier than Q3 of 2017 and latest Q4 of the year.
However, an indication exists that Samsung has been in the works for this device for a while as the Smartphone manufacturer in 2015 filed for a foldable smartphone warrant and has been reported to be planning an initial release of not more than 100,000 units of the device according to Korea Herald source.
Specifications to be packed into the device is however yet unknown, but tech advisors maintain it is expected to sport top-notch design, specs, and performance to live up to the buzz the concept has created in the media.
In line with Samsung’s plan for the foldable smartphone, LG has also been rumored to be in the works to release a similar product which may mark the end of modular smartphones as we know it.
Possible pricing of the smartphone is, however, a major topic for debate among tech lovers and enthusiasts who hold that the next groundbreaking redefinition of the smartphone as it is may not come cheap even as Samsung is trying to return to the market with a bang.
