SEVEN HOT FEATURES THAT CAME WITH THE IOS 10.2 UPDATE
With the way, we get all of these updates on phones, software and the rest of the world of technology; we think that there is a day when we finally run out of convenient number systems to use. On a lighter note, though, it is amazing the kind of updates that we get yearly and periodically. Even when we think these companies have done their best, they still find a way to top that with an additional cream of awesomeness. When we got the iOS 10 launch in Apple units, we were all excited, and everyone wanted to get their hands on it. Right now, Apple has made the 10.2 version of the iOS available to the market and eligible users, and there’s the usual fanfare about it again.
If you are part of the group that don’t get why you should upgrade and would rather stick with what you have currently, let’s help you out by giving you what the fuss is all about.
1 TELEVISION
TV never got better on smartphones, and that is what Apple is looking to show us here. Whether you work with an iPhone or run an iPad unit, you would be able to convert your piece of hardware into just more than a phone. With the ‘Up Next’ feature, you get to see the shows and movies that you are currently watching. Likewise, this is a good way to pick up where you left off. Going to the ‘Watch Now’ tab, you get recommendations for new movies and shows that might suit your interest.
The TV feature is also a sort of outlook into the iTunes world, helping you to discover new applications as well as media content in the library. Did we forget to mention that the purchases and rentals are still very much there, and better?
2 EMOJI
Emojis became the thing of 2016, and even though they have been around for much longer than that single year, it was the time it came into proper limelight. Many developers started to create their emoji packs; manufacturers weren’t left out of it, and the iOS 10.2 would have been incomplete without the emoji pack being redefined and improved. The new emoji packs are even more beautiful and pleasing to the eye. With over a hundred in the new set, there are expressions of food, animals, different sports, and professions.
3 PHOTO IMPROVEMENTS
You thought Apple would roll out an update and not consider their media lovers? The new update makes the Live Photos feature even more stable, and for those that have been complaining about speed, you now have a faster frame rate. Groupings have also been improved, and the accuracy of the Apple AI grouping similar photos is now higher than ever. With the iOS 10.2, you never have to worry about Memories generating a memory based on pictures stored in your screenshots folder, whiteboards or receipts gallery. After switching back to Camera Roll on the iPhone unit, you might have noticed that the camera still stayed in the zoom position. Well, this bug has also been fixed, so go on and be great with that awesome camera once again.
As a, plus for the users of the iPhone 7 Plus, the update brings additional support for RAW images.
4 MESSAGES
There have been reports by some people that the on-screen keyboard failed to pop up when they were in the Messages section. Well, this issue has been fixed, and Apple throws in a little bit of love too. The Message interface is now with a full-screen effect, giving you all the room you need.
5 MUSIC
While there were no major changes to how the application rendered its content – which is great by the way – there are additional gestures and improvements in the User Interface. For example, a simple Swipe up on the Now Playing screen would give you access to media options such as Shuffle, Repeat, and Up Next. You can also sort your playlists from here, choose albums or songs in the library.
6 NEWS
News just got better on the iOS, and you never have to miss anything again. Any story you save would now show up in the Saved section. Content from the channels that you subscribe to would also be automatically filtered, and the best of them is saved in the ‘For You’ folder. Getting to the next story from another one just got easier with as little as a sideways slide. To go old school, +there is also the option to tap ‘Next Story.’
7 MAIL
If your Move Sheet used to persist even after finding the mail, the 10.2 bump addresses this issue. Likewise, the long press would no longer activate copy and pasting in your Mail folder. For those that saw wrong messages being removed after deleting another message, the new bump is here to rectify that likewise.
