Ten Smartphone Apps for Dog Lovers
They are loveable, loyal and our best friends…yes, we’re talking about our fur kids, our wonderful dogs. There are tons of fantastic apps for your smartphone designed with dog lovers in mind (sorry cat lovers, we are focusing on the pups on this one!), but we narrowed it down to the top ten best. Read on to learn about apps that help you keep an eye on your dog’s health, find a puppy in need of a home, train your pet and more!
Map My Dog Walk – Start up this app every time you take your pup for a walk. It’ll track your calories and your route using your phone’s GPS technology. It may inspire you to get out with your dog more or make the walks a little longer each day. Something that will benefit both of you.
Pet Coach – Pet Coach connects you with vets, trainers and pet experts whenever you have a question about your pooch. Worried about a strange behavior? Have a health concern? Need nutrition advice? Just ask!
iClicker – This is a free tool for “clicker training” your dog. It comes with tutorials and videos, too, to make training fast and easy.
Bark Buddy – Like Tinder, but for dogs! Once you’re approved for adoption, this app lets you swipe through and see all the dogs in your area in need of a home.
WoofTrax – Every time you record a dog walk through WoofTrax, they donate to a local animal shelter of your choice. Such a great company.
Weather Puppy – No high concept here, just a standard weather app with an unbearably cute puppy on the screen that changes based on the time and weather.
Tagg GPS Pet Tracker – Once you purchase Tagg’s tracking device, you attach it to your dog’s collar. Then, you can track your pet’s location at ALL times from your phone. This helps you find them should they run away, and allows you to track their walks if you’ve hired a dog walker. The tracker also provides you with health information about your pet and can alert you if she gets too hot or too cold.
Red Cross Pet First Aid – This app is created to manage your dog’s health. There are TONS of great features on this app, but the standouts are its step-by-step instructions to guide you through common pet emergencies, and a locator for the nearest emergency vets and pet hotels.
Bring Fido – Here’s an app that informs you on restaurants, businesses, hotels and attractions that are pet friendly. It also has information on local pet stores, vets, walkers and groomers.
Dog Park Finder – A great app that offers information and reviews on dog parks all over the country.
Now, if you are a cat lover, you won’t appreciate the apps we’ve found, but not to worry! Check back and we’ll do a bit of research for your feline friends as well.
Enjoy!
