To Navigate or Not to Navigate?
To Navigate or Not to Navigate?
Did you know that GPS is an acronym for Global Positioning System? I had to look that one up actually. As a side note, it’s also used for The Gap stock symbol, but for this post we are referring to the one for navigation purposes. There are so many options available, phone apps, car nav’s, stand-alone systems/etc. So, we are here to ask…”are some better than others?”
Nobody likes getting lost. These days, it’s easier than ever to find your way around with all the tools and apps available. Cell phones come with several options for navigation apps and newer cars often come with on-board navigation systems, or there’s also portable options as well.
Is there a difference? The answer is that it really comes down to preference. Using a phone GPS gives the option of portability and many of the apps available don’t require any kind of monthly fee. There are a few out there that do charge a fee, but it’s minimal. Vehicle on-board navigation systems offer more ease of use and frequently updated maps, if you pay for them.
Reasons to use modern navigation system
Not only do they make life a lot easier, but they are also much safer than trying to navigate an unknown area unassisted. Navigation systems make our lives safe and easy, without distraction, headache, and nagging co-pilots. Oh wait, we still have them! How did we do it any other way?
Many navigation apps on cell phones offer a lot of features that are helpful when trying to choose a restaurant, park, or other place to go. They can be linked with review services where you can check what people think about your mechanic, the food that you are considering eating or even the level of service at your local grocery store.
No matter what kind of navigation system you use, it makes life safer and easier. The days of looking at a map while driving down the street are over. The good news is that those times have been replaced with a system that often tells you where to drive and how long it will take to get there as well as how traffic is on the way. No stopping for directions needed!
