US Blames The Kremlin For Hacks That Leaked Hillary Clinton, Other Democrat’, Emails
The United States elections, like all of the main events that have received the same kind of media hype over the years, has come and gone and we have found out the results of what we have been anticipating. The whole world talked about it for months, and they waited for years to see a female emerge as not just a candidate for the seat of the president but also, a strong one at that. When we finally got Hillary Clinton in the race and contention, it seems that America had been prepared by a black president to be ready for a female president. It was not to be though as at the point when the whole world held its breath and waited for the announcement that would declare the next leader of the free world, the man counterpart emerged, and Donald Trump is set to take the seat.
After the whole saga had died down, though, it was revealed that President Obama had launched an investigation to check if it was possible that influences from outside of the stateside could have affected the trend of the election. The CIA undertook and concluded such investigations, revealing that there were truly other forces at play, and the Russians didn’t have a clean hands on this one. It is no longer news that during the race, Hillary Clinton suffered a massive hack that led to the discovery and leaking of some sensitive information as well as personal emails and this is believed to have come from the Kremlin. Speaking out on this issue for the first time, Hillary Clinton who had been keeping a rather low profile with the press after the elections have come out to corroborate the story, supporting the claim that the hacks on her accounts were from the Russian government. Her accusations were not baseless too, as she believes that President Putin had a personal ‘beef’ against her, and this was his way of getting back at her. This beef was a feud from five years ago when she deemed one of the elections held for the present president’s administration as rigged.
The current president of the United States, Barrack Obama, also had something to say on the matter. Even though he showed his support and claimed that he was in the know towards the handling of the hacking allegations, he had refused to speak on the matter so as not to undermine the integrity of the just held elections. A white house representative was less conservative when speaking on the matter, though, baring it all out that President Vladimir Putin was directly involved in the hacks that proved to be a very big disgrace to the Democratic party. With the hacks also coming at a very crucial point in the elections, it has been put into a hypothesis that the timing was so in a bid to shift the favor towards Donald Trump who condensed under the republican flag instead. On this matter, there has been neither a confirmation nor denial, and it is still out there till further information surfaces.
As stated by New York times, these comments by Mrs. Clinton was the first that she had made on the matter since the report had surfaced from the CIA who conducted the investigation. “Putin publicly blamed me for the outpouring of outrage by his people, and that is the direct line between what he said back then and what he did in this election,” said Mrs. Clinton (n.d.). Speaking further on the subject, she said “This is not just an attack on me and my campaign, although that may have added fuel to it. This is an attack against our country. We are well beyond normal political concern here. This is about the integrity of our democracy and security of our nation.”

A lot of questions has been raised about what was really in the leaked emails to have made them so instrumental in deflecting Mrs. Clinton’s election off course. Even though some of the information in the leak has been contained by internal agencies, the leaked ones still revealed nothing less than 19,000 email addresses of Democratic National Committee members’ emails and the discussions that were held in them, focusing mainly on kicking against the election of Bernie Sanders who was Mrs. Clinton’s rival. The campaign manager of Hillary Clinton, John Podesta, was not also spared from the leaks as he had a lot of his emails in the timeframe of October and November leaked to the general public. Related to this, and probably the most damaging of all the pieces of information in there, was the revelation that Mrs. Clinton was in rapport with Wall Street bankers more than she let on during the campaign. As if that wasn’t incriminating enough, a lot of email trails suggested that the donors to the Clinton Foundation had special access to the former president.
As it is in the case with the United States, this issue would not be treated lightly if it is found out that the Russians were deeply implicit in this hack but if it was true to bring in the new government, the whole saga might end up under the rug.
