What Should You Expect On The New Generation iPhones?
With every new release of an iPhone set of devices would always be a lot of speculations and news. Before the exact day came, we would have heard a lot of things about the design that would be featured on the device and as well, the new things to expect. This year was not such a big growth for the iPhone series though as we got to see an iPhone 7 that was although cool in some ways, was well boring in a lot of other ways. The only thing that was very interesting on the iPhone 7 line-up was the fact that they removed the headphone jack component, which didn’t seem to sit down well with a lot of users by the way, and the introduction of the beastly A10 chipset which has been said can do wonders. It is also worthy of note that they introduced the dual camera setup on the iPhone 7 Plus and to round it off, made sure that we have even more colors to pick from this time around. And that, up there, summarizes everything we got on the iPhone 7.
However, we expect that next year is the time when Apple gives us what they have been preparing us for because we take the releases for this year as just a forerunner to the main course meal. Next year also happens to be when the Apple brand would clock ten years of age, and this kind of anniversary isn’t what you do without a bang. Already, the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, has suggested that they have every plan on ground to mark the day in style and in September (the usual launch month for Apple iPhones), we would see the first of many steps that Apple hopes to take for the future.
ITS ALL IN THE NAME
Going by the naming technology that they use, we are expecting to get the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus next year by September, and there have already been speculations on what it is we are expecting. Maybe in a bid not to run out of numbers fast or just to keep the series compact, the S nomenclature has been around on iPhones for a while now. With the last time, Apple doing a major revamp on the iPhone being with the iPhone 6 (which we did love every bit of the build, by the way), we would surely welcome any new changes that Apple brings to mark out their first double-digit year. So, what have we heard so far, and what else should you expect?
IS THREE A CROWD?
From the reports that we have been hearing, there would be a third phone launched next year and this one has been codenamed “Ferrari.” The idea that we are getting three phones is not new as we have seen rumors around consistent with this before. As previously stated, they are willing to go all out and increase the size of the iOS units again this year, making them come in sizes of a 4.7 inch, 5 inch and 5. 5inch model. Beyond that we know it has been codenamed “Ferrari,” we have no other information as to what the actual name of this one could be so we welcome you to guess alongside us. Like Samsung did on the Note 7 when it skipped a number, we think Apple could go down the same path and skip the 8 and 9, naming the third one iPhone 10, or iPhone X. It is a long shot, but a prediction still.
DON’T THROW STONES
That’s what they tell people in glass houses, and you might just have a glass house on your hands with the next generation iPhones. Before even the iPhone 7 units made it to the market, there had been reports that Apple is planning to go back to the glass chassis build for the year 2017. This was backed up by a report from KGI Securities which was published in March that the all glass style used for the iPhone 4s would be brought back to life, and 2017 is the year of resurrection. That would surely be a more premium and stylish design over the current aluminum build option. In May, the rumors about the glass build got even more interesting when it was said that Apple could borrow a leaf from the book of Samsung on the chapter of Galaxy Edge units and also embrace the curved screen technology. If all of these is implemented, we have a straight new feature on the iPhone – yet another display.
SHINE BRIGHT LIKE DIAMONDS
The display of the new units was not left out, and there is plenty of reason to believe that they would be switching to OLED panels for next year. Some speculations said that Apple has a secret lab in Taiwan where it is developing its OLED screens and just a couple of days ago, it surfaced that Samsung could be the sole supplier of OLED screens to Apple in the future. Since OLED is more flexible than LCD, it would allow for them to implement curved screens if they want it and otherwise, give the iPhones brighter displays nonetheless.
ALL OTHER THINGS INTERESTING
We heard of the debut of a wireless charging feature and even though we don’t know how they are supposed to work this, we are open to seeing it happen. Just like every new addition to the iPhone series, the ones bound for the market in 2017 are supposed to carry A11 chipsets and be faster than every other device in the series. To finish off (no pun intended), we expect to see a new red color variant too.
2017 already feels sweet in the mouth, doesn’t it?
